Single Cup Coffee Makers

By Crystal Powers

Coffee is a popular beverage, and a large number of coffee makers are sold every year. The problem with your average coffee maker is that it is usually designed to make ten to twelve cups of coffee per pot. This is fine for the office or maybe a diner but a casual coffee drinker doesn't need all that. With only one or two cups drunk each day, 8 or 10 go to waste. That's a considerable waste of coffe. And, if you buy coffee in large quantities, it won't stay fresh for very long. If you rarely drink more than one or two cups of coffee in a day, the single cup coffee maker is the right choice for you.

Single cup coffee makers are designed to accommodate the needs of the single occasional coffee drinker, and the needs of anyone loving a special cup of coffee. A single cup coffee maker gives you a higher quality cup of coffee because it was designed for just that. A world-quality cup of coffee. You can get a higher quantity brewed at one time, but the quality will not be the same.

Single cup coffee makers are slightly more costly than other coffee makers. The extra expense is probably also due to the fact that only coffee in "pods" can be used. This is basically a self contained package that has coffee inside little flat oval shaped filters. Just taking a look at the coffee makers isle, the next time you go to a retail store, will give you an idea of what machines sell most. This is a good practice indeed, since you certainly don't want to buy a machine that has been sitting there for a long time and is considered obsolete. You can go the secure route by buying popular brand names such as Senseo or Mr. Coffee, or you can do a little research and read some reviews before making your purchase.

All single cup coffee makers are all different and perfect in their own ways. Some will allow you to regulate the strength of your coffee. Some others allow you to add froth or foam on top of your beverage. There are many different options available to you.

You can now buy single cup coffee makers in many places. A retail store would probably be the best place to buy one, since you can find a selection on the shelves. This way you can determine what each one has to offer and what it looks like. Your coffee maker should match the dcor and color of your kitchen. Keep price in mind as one of the important factors in your decision, and if you can save $50 by purchasing a different model, you should certainly consider it.

The only drawback to single cup coffee makers is that they only make one cup at a time. If you have many guests you will have to run back and forth, replace coffee pods, and make individual cups. Your guest might have to wait a little longer for their coffee, but then they will enjoy the higher quality of a special cup of coffee, so really it all evens out in the end.
